Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Singapore

Wednesdays are special here at ICON+ and Aureus Consulting.

From Feb-Apr 2015, every Wednesday finds several ICON+ and Aureus staff members puffing and wheezing as they caper around a horse corral.

“Why?” you might ask.

As part of our longstanding commitment to community service, we committed to a 10-week volunteer program with the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), the only organization in sunny Singapore providing equine assisted therapy to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.

As volunteer walkers, or “sidewalkers”, ICON+ and Aureus staff support and motivate the horse riders as they guide horses around obstacles and complete a variety of tasks to develop their physical, communicative and cognitive abilities. We leave each session at RDA Singapore having gained not only a healthy workout but also the assurance that we’ve given back a little to the community.

This might explain the exceptionally bright Wednesday smiles!
